Tan y Ddraig Pottery Course Guidelines

Everything you need to know before starting your 6-week pottery wheel or hand-building course.
Suitable for ages 12 and up.

Session Times

Each class runs for 2 hours. Available time slots:
Saturday: 10:00am – 12:00pm
Sunday: 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Monday: 11:00am – 1:00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings: 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Arrival Policy

Even if you arrive early, classes will always begin at the scheduled time. We use the time beforehand to set up and prepare for your session, so we kindly ask that you wait until the class officially begins.

Thank you for your understanding — we can’t wait to get muddy with you!

Missed Sessions

Missed sessions cannot be rescheduled, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up within the 6-week course.

If we need to cancel a session, we will ensure that it is made up at a later date.

Number of Pieces

Pottery Wheel Course:
You’ll throw several pieces throughout the course, but you will keep 4 to 6 final pieces. This helps us manage our firing schedule and ensures there’s time for glazing.

Hand-Building Course:
You can create up to 6 smaller pieces over the 4 weeks of making. If you’d prefer to focus on one larger sculpture, that’s fine too — we’ll work with you to make sure there’s time for firing and glazing.

What to Bring Each Week

– An apron or towel
– Short fingernails
– Long hair tied back

Additional Glazing Sessions

If you don’t finish glazing all your pottery by week 6, we will clear-glaze any remaining bisque-fired pieces for you.

If you’d prefer to glaze them yourself, you can book an additional glazing session at £30 for a 2-hour slot. (Prices subject to change.)

Additional Pots

Participants may keep extra pots beyond the included number with prior agreement. Firing fees for additional pieces are calculated by cubic inch.

Extra glazing time for these pieces can also be booked at £30 for a 2-hour session. (Prices subject to change.)

Cancellation Policy

Booking a 6-week course is a firm commitment, and we are unable to offer refunds.

If you need to cancel, we will do our best to fill your space. If we’re able to find a replacement, you’ll receive a voucher to rebook a future course. Alternatively, you’re welcome to nominate a friend to attend in your place.

Disclaimer

Due to the nature of kiln-fired ceramics, slight imperfections can occur. On rare occasions, pieces may crack or shatter during the firing process.

While we take every precaution to prevent this, some factors are beyond our control.
